My Book Gets Its Wings
Official launch day updates and happenings
On certain days when the planets align just right, scribbles in a notebook can take the form of an actual published book, and today is that day for my debut book, The Magic of Knowing What You Want!
You can now get your copy wherever books are sold. I truly appreciate you supporting the launch, and I am so excited to continue our conversation through the ideas, lessons, and exercises shared in The Magic of Knowing What You Want.
This book changed many things from its inception to its journey to publication—its structure, stories, and even its title. But there’s one thing that has never changed in the approximately 942 days since I set out to write this book, and that is who I wrote it for.
I wrote for people like my clients who shared about feeling behind in life as they faced mid-career changes. I thought of the individuals similar to those I’d spoken to at retreats I facilitated, who bravely decided to leave behind living for the expectations of others but felt unsure of where to go from there. I pictured the faces of the people who told me they felt fear instead of joy and anticipation when they thought about what they wanted most deeply, and I knew there were others like them who needed to know they were not alone and how to move forward.
I’m so proud of this book because it’s a chance to share what I have discovered as I’ve helped guide people toward the thriving they are uniquely meant to bring to the world. More than anything, I hope it finds its way to the people I wrote it for and helps more of us have honest, rich, and satisfying conversations about the question—What do you really want?
This book is a deep dive into the process of uncovering the desires that are embedded in your life, why that matters so very much, and a practical toolkit of reflection exercises that might spark some of your best ideas about how to live more with more authenticity, freedom, and fullness.
Thank You for Your Outpouring of Love and Support
Thank you so much to those who have supported the book through blurbing, sharing, posting, and ordering! I’m genuinely grateful for each one of you.
Also, a friend I met on the internet (one of the most extraordinary types of friends) made this outstanding commercial about the book, blowing me away. (Credit: Jon Pyle, somebody needs to give this man a contract!)
How You Can Support the Launch
If you’re so inclined, here are some ways to help out. Please know that anything you’re up for doing comes with the undying gratitude of a debut author.
Request the book at your local library or favorite indie bookstore
Share about it with a friend or online, especially a favorite quote or takeaway
Review or rate on sites like Amazon, Goodreads, or Storygraph (even a ‘want to read’ setting on Goodreads can help it get on others’ radar). Reviews don’t need to be long but go a long way to help others discover the book
Podcasts
It’s been fun to have conversations about the book through podcasts and a pleasure to talk to people in their respective fields of expertise about the book's themes.
Here’s a roundup of the recent podcast interviews.
The Fascinating Podcast with Matt Mikalatos, JR. Forasteros, and Kathy Khang
Anchored by the Sword with Gina Fox
It's not a podcast, but I got the chance to contribute to the fabulous Tending series about writing on Nancy Reddy’s Substack. Also check out her newly released book while you’re at it!
There are also some more great podcasts already recorded and set to release soon, and if there is an award for the most eclectic group of podcasts an author has made the rounds on as a part of a book’s PR, I am a total shoo-in.
